Award-winning project transforming nighttime urban experiences through interactive light installations.
The Light Map explores how interactive, light-based installations can enhance the safety and vitality of urban spaces at night while fostering local knowledge and connection to place. The project identified a gap in Te Ara Tukutuku’s proposed activity schedule; no initiatives were designed for nighttime engagement. Case studies like Myers Park show that urban spaces can become unsafe when used after dark. To address this, The Light Map was developed to create an inviting and engaging nighttime visitor experience. I was incredibly grateful to recieve the Capstone Top in Course Award and Runner-Up in the LEXUS Design Award 2025 for this project.
